Skit 2 - 2002
|
Another skit that never did get to see the light of day - time constraints, whatever. Me: I'd like all the kids to come down here. (children come and form a semi-circle in front of me). Me: It's time to get a little serious. You've all seen martial artists break things - bricks, concrete, wood, tiles, and so on. But did you ever ask yourself why there are some things that people never break? I think it's because some things just won't break, and some things are too scary to break. So, as a final test of their courage I'm going to ask a few of the candidates to break something you've never seen anyone break before. I'm only asking for the bravest of the brave - those can show no fear in the face of the seemingly impossible challenge. Could I ask Kyle, Norm, and Fred to come here and accept this final challenge? They are going to break fruit - that's right, I said fruit - you've never seen it done before - it's just too tough. (From dobuk, brings out an apple, an orange, and a plum) Could I have some holders, please. (holders come forward and hold fruit in breaking position) Gentlemen, are you ready? (they all say, yes, Sir!!) Now kids, please be careful, I don't want anyone to get their eyes hurt by a piece of flying fruit. Did someone laugh? I thought I heard someone laugh. You know, you're right, these fruit are far too small to be a real test. How about these? (from bag, pulls out large paper mache fruit) That's better. So, gentlemen, on my mark, break and good luck! (pause) BREAK! (Guys break the fruit, it's contents (I'll preserve a little mystery here) rain down on the (hopefully) amazed and amused children)
