Skit 1 - 2002

This skit never did get to see the light of day - time constraints, whatever.

Preferrably at the beginning of the program.

Me (to the audience): Now, I'm going to need your co-operation. When I make this gesture (cups hand to ear) I want you to yell, "The Spirit of DeSantos!" Now, let's practice. (cups ear).

Crowd: "The Spirit of DeSantos"

Me: Not bad. Let's try it again, only louder. (cups ear)

Crowd: "The Spirit of DeSantos!"

Me: (cups ear)

Crowd: "The Spirit of DeSantos!!"

Me: Now this is just a little story that I've translated into the metaphors of taekwondo. The theme is "Power, Control, and Indomitable Spirit". The first part is Power. I call this, "The three little pigs would have been bacon and ham if the big, bad wolf had known taekwondo".

Free Hand Brick Break with Knife Hand.
Bows to audience.

Me: That's Power, that's (cups ear)

Crowd: The Spirit of DeSantos!

Me: The Second part is Control, or "What to do if you get to your birthday party with a really bad head cold." (lights candles on specially made stand)

Blows out candles with, succesively, palm heel strike, punch, inside ridge handle, single finger.
And then a group of 3 in rapid succession with punches.
Bows to audience.

Me: That's Control, that's (cups ear)

Crowd: The Spirit of DeSantos!

Me: The Third part is Indomitable Spirit, titled, "The Flame of the Master". (lights candle and passes it to KJN). The more discerning among you will have noticed that KJN's candle has 3 wicks. These represent KJN, the Master Martial Artist, mentor and coach to generations of martial artists and trainer of champions - the second represents Veronica DeSantos - screwd business woman and entrepeneur and the third represents Veronica - the girl who loves to partaaayy, and frankly giggles a lot.

Successive attemps to blow out candle fail with comic antics from me.
If by some slim chance I do blow out the candles they magically relight.
Finally, in frustration, I give up, bow to KJN.

Me: This is Kwan Jae Nym, and she IS (cups ear).

Crowd: The Spirit of DeSantos!!!
