Phase 2

"...just a small part of The Stableford Martial Arts Resource Site."

This is archival material from my Weight Loss Record page.

Notes:

14 October 2001 - since 50 cal (on fat, no fiber) is one point - it seems that a reasonable approach would be to credit activity points at the rate of 1 per 50 cal when determinable. Most higher end exercise machines allow you to input your weight and therefore calculate calorie expenditure. This will become significant in the maintenance phase as we attempt to balance the input=output equation. If anyone has any thoughts on this, let me know. Email

15 October 2001 - candy binge! Still working on that balance, not points, but what's in the points that won't take the hunger factor over the top.

17 October 2001 - amazing that the only really low point sources of protein are white poultry meat. shrimp/lobster and fat free ham or their fat free fake counterparts - just compare the calories of any kind of red meat to these winners - pity that the family thinks chili looks 'funny' with anything but beef - I think we're all battling with the idea that in order to be successful permanent change has to occur - that will not be a time when we can safely return to our 'normal' way of eating.

19 October 2001 - I wonder whether weight loss is like the stock market. When technical analysists look for trends they often speak of areas of support and resistance - these are ranges, typically, that the market has spent a considerable amount of time at before breaking through to new levels on the high side (resistance) - going down, these areas are seen as levels of support. Instead of the old fixed point theory, what if the same is true of weight? Since no one's rise to high side is smooth and unbroken, perhaps weights that we spent considerable time at in our rise form bands of resistance on the way down? That would certainly apply to my current stall. Just a thought.

25 October 2001 - Obviously the battle lines have been drawn - THE WALL - at 230. Now I have, over the years spent a fair bit of time hanging around the wall. But it's not happy with a simple wave as I go by. It insists that I stay and chat for a while. I'm sorry but it's stories are old and I'm getting bored. Been there, weighed that. Time to move on. So the immediate goal is to leave 'the wall' in my dust.

31 October 2001 - Holy Shit! Give me a break!! This must be a trick -- it sure ain't a treat.

7 November 2001 - still fighting the wall. Checking with the forum at Dotti's Weight Loss Zone I'm beginning to think I may be undereating in relation to my activity level - I certainly seem to be pushing the top of my range - advertantly or inadvertantly. The real ugly about keeping a journal - if it goes into your mouth it goes into the journal - is it makes it really hard to deceive yourself, i.e. cheat, which is (duh!) kind of the point. Let's focus on making those extra points healthy ones. And push the water.
